Hitchcock Direct Imaging provides general, OB/GYN and vascular ultrasound based on an order from a licensed healthcare provider. A credentialed diagnostic medical sonographer performs the examination, and a board-certified radiologist interprets the images.
Every published ultrasound price includes the examination, facility services, radiologist interpretation, the final report and a digital copy upon request.

We contact CT and ultrasound patients to arrange a convenient appointment. X-ray patients may walk in during imaging hours after we receive the order.

Pay the published all-inclusive price at your visit. A board-certified radiologist interprets the study, and the report is generally sent to the ordering provider within 48–72 hours—often sooner.

The $160 price includes the ultrasound examination, facility services, board-certified radiologist interpretation, the final report and a digital copy upon request. You will not receive a separate facility or radiologist bill from Hitchcock Direct Imaging.
Patients pay the self-pay price at the time of service. HSA and FSA funds may be used.
What to Expect During Your Ultrasound
For most ultrasound examinations, you will lie on an examination table while the sonographer applies a small amount of water-based gel to the area being examined. The gel helps the ultrasound transducer make contact with the skin and transmit sound waves into the body.
The sonographer moves the transducer over the area of interest while images appear on a monitor. You may be asked to change position, remain still or briefly hold your breath so the sonographer can obtain the images required for the ordered study.
Most ultrasound examinations are well tolerated. Pressure from the transducer may cause temporary discomfort if the area being examined is already tender. The length of the examination depends on the type and complexity of the study.
Some pelvic or OB/GYN studies may use a specialized internal transducer when medically appropriate and included in the ordered examination. The imaging team will explain the procedure and answer questions before beginning.
How to Prepare
Preparation depends on the type of ultrasound your provider ordered. After we receive the order, the imaging team will give you the instructions for your specific study.
Depending on the examination, you may be asked to:
– Avoid eating or drinking for a specified period
– Drink water and arrive with a full bladder
– Wear loose, comfortable clothing
– Remove clothing or jewelry from the area being examined
– Bring relevant prior imaging or tell us where it was performed
Follow the instructions provided by the imaging team. Preparing incorrectly may limit the examination or require it to be rescheduled.
Tell the imaging team if you need mobility assistance, have difficulty lying in a required position or have questions about an internal ultrasound examination.
