The price includes the X-ray examination, facility services, board-certified radiologist interpretation, the final report and a digital copy upon request. You will not receive a separate facility or radiologist bill from Hitchcock Direct Imaging.
Patients pay the self-pay price at the time of service. HSA and FSA funds may be used.
What Can an X-Ray Help Evaluate?
Depending on the examination ordered by your healthcare provider, X-rays may help evaluate:
– A possible fracture or dislocation
– Bone alignment and healing
– Joint or arthritic changes
– Certain chest and lung findings
– The position of some medical devices or foreign objects
– Other bone, joint, chest or structural concerns
X-ray is not the best examination for every medical question. Your healthcare provider determines which study is appropriate based on your symptoms, examination and medical history.
What to Expect During Your X-Ray
Most routine X-ray examinations are completed quickly. The technologist will explain how to position the part of the body being examined and may ask you to stand, sit or lie down. You may need to hold still or briefly hold your breath while an image is taken.
The examination itself is painless, although positioning an injured area may be temporarily uncomfortable. The number of images depends on the ordered study and the views needed by the radiologist.
Metal can interfere with some X-ray images. Depending on the area being examined, you may be asked to remove jewelry, eyeglasses, clothing with metal fasteners or other objects before the study.
